STUDENT LIFE
Florida Free BMW is located in the heart of
Florida's Space Coast, bordering the Kennedy Space Center, at the 502-acre Teen Missions headquarters. Florida Free is convenient to many shopping centers in the Merritt Island area, is five miles from Cocoa Beach, and one hour from Central Florida tourist attractions.
- Students live in housing on campus and eat their meals in the dining room.
- Thirty minutes are set aside each day for personal devotions.
- Attendance is mandatory at Chapel service every morning.
- A minimum of two hours of study time is set aside each evening.
- The only finances needed are for medical expenses, transportation, and personal spending money.
Because the classes are small, teachers are able to give personal attention to the students when there is a specific need. Emphasis is placed on God's Word and missions.
Once a week the students meet for evening devotions
called
Vespers. During this time, they worship
and seek the Lord together. Weekends
may find the
students relaxing in the TMI Conference Center pool, exploring the Teen
Missions jungle, or visiting nearby Cocoa Beachafter study
time of course!
Second-year students are required to be involved in a local Christian church ministry—teaching Sunday school, working with youth, etc.
Students from around the worldAustralia, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, England, Hungary, Liberia, Malawi, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnamhave attended Florida Free BMW. It is a wonderful opportunity to live and study with people from different parts of the world, and get a glimpse of life in other cultures.
STUDENT POLICIESAN OVERVIEW For
the well-being of the whole student body, it is necessary
to establish guidelines in order to avoid misunderstandings.
BMW is designed to develop a quality young person
with a personal love and commitment to Christ, a modest lifestyle,
and a well-disciplined life-someone who is equipped to minister wherever
He calls.
Florida Free students must make the commitment to willingly obey the student policies. Discipline is maintained with a system of minutes or demerit points. Students need to understand that attendance at Florida Free BMW is a privilege granted only to those who desire to work together in carrying out the aims of a Christian school.

Dating: After the first term, couples are allowed to spend time together.
One hour Monday-Friday, Saturday afternoons, and Sunday evening church (with
a third party present). We want to keep the focus on Bible, missions, and work
trainingnot on the opposite sex.
Vacations and Holidays: Students receive one week of vacation at the end of August, and two weeks over Christmas. Holiday time off is the same as the Teen Missions staffGood Friday and the Thanksgiving weekend. Students need to arrange their own transportation to and from the airport
Telephone: There is a telephone available for student use in the student lounge during their free time. Teen Missions phone lines are for business and must be kept open for business and overseas calls. Personal calls may only be received on these business lines in the case of an emergency.
Transportation/Automobiles: The vehicle owner is responsible for car insurance and having a valid driver's license. Students are not permitted to borrow other student's cars while at BMW.
BMW Commitment: If a student fails to complete their commitment to Florida Free BMW (3 years), they are responsible to reimburse Teen Missions a $300 room and board fee for each month they attended the school.
Health Insurance: Students are responsible for providing their own health insurance. Often they can remain on their parents’ policy while they are a student. Check with your insurance agent.
Dress code: Florida Free students adhere to the Teen Missions dress code for work training. Classroom attire is neat and professional:
Girls dresses/skirts & blouses,
Guyscollared shirts & ties, dress slacks (no jeans).
STANDARD OF CONDUCT: Because the goal for
Florida Free BMW students is to give them the opportunity to study God’s Word without the worry of financial obligation, a high standard of conduct is maintained. When you are accepted into Florida Free, there is an implied agreement that you will be diligent in your studies and work training, and will obey the policies in the Student Manual, which is given upon arrival.
Assigned ResponsibilityThings that are expected
to take place, such as obeying rules and performing duties or work assignments
given, should be done with a willing spirit.
Implied ResponsibilityThings you do, say, or think should be based on Biblical Christian principles and common sense, keeping in mind the well-being of your fellow students and the Florida Free (Teen Missions) Facility.
The administration reserves the right to request a student to withdraw who is considered to be out of harmony with the spirit of the school. It is expected that the conduct of each student will give evidence of Christian standards, honesty, morality, and courtesy.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world...”
I John 2:15Christians should be separated, but not isolated. Attendance at movie theaters, smoking, videos (except G & selected PG rating) chewing tobacco, drinking, dancing, rock music, playing cards, gambling, lotteries and other things generally regarded as of the world, do not contribute to our spiritual goals and life. Immodest dress, television (HBO, Cinemax, other questionable programming) and Sunday shopping sprees are also areas that reflect directly on our testimony for Christ.
“This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16
